Advantages of Link Farms

Within this entry to the SEO Manual (Search Engine Optimisation) I will discuss the advantages of link farms. Link Farms are mostly frowned upon by people in the SEO industry but there are some good advantages of using them wisely.

Choosing the right one

There are two different types of link farm available to users on the internet; human generated farms and computer automatic generated farms. The computer automatic generated farms are the ones who give link farms a bad name. To reap the benefits of link farms the human generated ones are the way to go; this means you won’t get penalised for ’spamdexing’ which many companies have been for using automated link farms.

What can link farms do?

The whole point of being part of a link farm is to build links. Building links is getting harder and harder these days with humans and search engines alike catching on to users trying to build links through the use of other peoples websites.

With the building of links a website can accrue PR (PageRank) from the inbound links from other, highly relevant websites. The more relevant the website the more PR and weight it carries. A link is not just a link; it is a ‘vote’ for the website it is linking to and search engines take this into consideration. A link is also not just a number; the more relevant it is the better as 10 bad quality links is no better than 1 high quality link.

The building of these links also means it helps the website gain places within the SERP’s (search engine results pages) - in turn generating more traffic and more potential conversions. it must be noted that links alone may not improve a websites position; there are a whole range of techniques used when optimising a website.

Summary

To summarise this entry; using human link farms provides one of the better options for link building. Staying clear of auto generating link farms is good practice as you never know what links are going to be given. The advantages of link farms go hand in hand with the other optimisation techniques which should be taking place at the same time,
