One way linking
One way linking is the holy grail of linking and it is what all good link builders are hoping to achieve. A one way link has massive value, in terms of link equity and PageRank. So what makes up a one way link? Well in a nut shell, a one way link, is a link to your site from a site where no link is returned, either reciprocally or by means of a third party. A one way link is not a link which you pay for, these are know as payed links and if the big G (Google), catches you buying links, that will be the end of your websites rank, well for the next 6/12 months or so. There are a number of factors that you should take into account when trying to find a one way link, and they are as follows:
1) Authority: Look for a site in the same, or similar industry to the site that you want the link for, I.e. If your website is about cars, look for links from garages or main dealers or car hobby websites/blogs. A link from a garden suppliers website to your site about cars is not going to do it many favours!!
2) Page Rank: Make sure the site/page that you request the link for has a good PageRank. It is no good having links on a page with hardly any PageRank, as they will have none to pass on to your site.
3) Less than 100 links on page: The PageRank which is passed on to your site will be divided up between the links on a page, as well as a number of other factors, which are a bit advanced for this blog. So if the site has 200 links on the page, then the PageRank being passed on will be divided by 200, leaving you with very little for your site.
4) Followed Links: Make sure that the links that you are applying for are followed. There is a tag which stops PageRank from being passed on called ‘rel=no-follow’ found in the hyperlinks of the source code. These type of links are useless.
Above are the main things to follow when looking for a one way link. There are other factors involed, but the above facts are a good starting point. One of the best ways that I believe to obtain one way links and increased business, is to contact people who might use your service or product and then offer them a one off discount if they put a link to your site on their website, not only does this get you links, but it also gets you business.
