What is Link Building

Filed under: SEO Manual — Tags: — Michelle @ 9:21 am

There are many techniques involved within Search engine optimisation, One of these being - Link Building, I will be discussing what link building actually is and why it is vital to your page ranking within the search engine eyes.

There are two main parts to link building which is the link itself and the anchor text,

The anchor text is text in a hyperlink, The words which are put in the anchor text from an SEO perspective are vital to ensure that the keyword is used this will help determine the ranking of the page by the search engines.

A good example of this is: “SEO” is the anchor text:

<a href=”http://www.positiongoldltd.com”>SEO</a>

A stands for anchor, href is where it points to, you then close it with the > you will put the anchor text in after the > meaning the keyword then you close it.

When link building the no follow attribute wouldn’t be a good idea as effectively you are telling the search engines not to notice you. If your not not noticed you won’t be ranked highly in the search engine.

Paid links are bad they effect the quality of the search engine results by adversely paying to be ranked higher! Paid links should all be editorial chosen from an SEO point of view, if you have good content you will be ranked higher, that’s why here at Position Gold Ltd we believe in offering you the highest level of service and by going that extra mile we will work closely with your selves to ensure by using your keywords we will get you ranked highly in the search engine eyes using key word density.

If you think of it this way then you might understand slightly better - A search engine counts every link as a vote for your site, so technically by paying for links you are buying votes which makes your web site rank higher in the search engine -

Would a politician pay you to vote for them at general election? - this would be democratically incorrect, you wouldn’t get the best person for the job like Paid links its false. Link building should be voted for and not paid if you vote for a site and there ranked highly by this you will get correct, relevant information that you require.

There are other ways of increasing traffic flow to your web page which are by having article submissions meaning that you would write an article but have links back to your web page, The other method is to use directory submissions which manually submit your site to quality web directories. A benefit of this is that the links will be valued by search engines as there SEO friendly.

A perfect tip when link building is to link back to your home page from an internal page this then will pass page rank back to your home page. Link Building is a very important technique within search engine optimisation an overview is to basically focus on securing links from other similar websites to our clients sites. This increases the traffic flow to your website, by doing this you are ensuring that the potential customers who click on the link are interested in the services that you offer.
