What makes Google different?

Filed under: SEO Manual — Kirsty @ 10:30 am

Introduction.

As a Google user myself i am quite familiar with the speed and accuracy of the search results Google providers to its users. One main factor that makes Google stand out from the large crowd of search engine providers is their Pagerank system. Google were the first search engine provider to assign Pagerank, which therefore has gained them the success they have achieved today.

Pagerank.

Pagerank was established by Google founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin, as at this time all search engines typically linked to pages that contain the highest keywords density. Google founders believed that this was causing a dramatic problem, as people were able to cheat the system by repeating the same keyphrases and keywords over and over again, meaning that they could gain higher positioning within the search engines result pages (SERP’s). Pagerank therefore is Google’s system that allows them to rank pages that they believe are more important than others. Higher ranking webpages are more than likely going to gain more traffic to their webpages than others that are listed more a lower pagerank. Pagerank is used to determine which documents/ webpages are more relevant to a query that is entered into the search engines, search box by a user. When the pagerank is trying to process relevant results it also includes the popularity of a page, the amount of times the search term is positioned within the pages content and the relevance of the content, meaning they are always referring to the query at all times.

Pagerank is one of many factors that determines where your website will be positioned within the search engines, however this is also an important tool for visitors who are using the internet to gain relevant resources for a particular subject. Users generally look at the positioning of your site before they decide whether to go any further. If you sites is ranking well within the search engine you are more likely going to gain more visitors and see an increase within your website revenue. However if you are ranking more on the lower site of pagerank it is likely that you will either stay at the same amount of traffic you have always received or see a dramatic decrease on your websites positioning. This will be due to the fact that more and more business are having their websites optimized and therefore are gaining higher rankings in areas that your site is missing out on.

Conclusion.

In conclusion, there are many different factors that makes Google stand out from other search engines, but Google Pagerank takes the top spot. Pagerank is the reason why Google is such a popular search engine and is why all Google services have gained the high success that they deserve. The way Google is forever expanding, soon there wont be anything you can do without the help of Google.
