Google Chrome- the latest web browser
Google, one of the worlds most recognisable brands and largest internet search engine, has released Google Chrome. Google Chrome is a new web browser aimed at rivaling existing web browsers; such as Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox. Experts are already predicting that Google Chrome will be a major Web Browser in the near future. Being a Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) company, we use Google regulary, in order to use the Google analysis and Google tools. However, is Google Chrome a force to be reckoned with?
With a fast and simple download process, Google Chrome is up and running and it efficiently links up information found in Firefox and cookies. The new streamlined look ensures the user interface is not bombarded with tool bars and other tools. This gives the user the feel that they aren’t actually using a web browser, more of a search engine; clever marketing by Google.Google Chrome is very easy to use, with the new ‘omnibox’ being a useful new feature; users can type a URL into the address box as normal, however, users can also type in a word they would usually use a search engine to search for in the address box too. There is also a welcome break from web browser adverts, with Google Chrome really making the effort to literally clean up its act. The heavily speculated ‘incognito’ mode is a useful tool, as it does not log the pages viewed in the browser history or search history or even the cookies. This is useful if you wish to maintain privacy; E.g on a public computer. A good feature of Google Chrome, is the new tab function. When you open a new tab, the 9 most visited pages are shown. This saves you a lot of time, and allows you to see a web shot of the pages, making the selection of a page easier.
However, the only problem that can be seen in the early stages of using Google Chrome, is the fact that there are no add-ons; such as G-mail manager. However, as Google Chrome is only in its beta stages, Google will undoubtedly change this. Almost every forum mentioning Google Chrome, mentions the lack of add-ons, obviously people want their add-ons.
To conclude, Google is looking set to enter as one of the best used web browsers on the market with the only criticism of Google Chrome being that there are no add-ons……. yet!
