What is Linkbaiting?
Linkbait is a common phrase that is mentioned a lot within Search Engine Optimisation, but is not massively understood. Some people describe Linkbait as a technique; others dismiss it as producing high quality content.
But I bet your thinking, what exactly is Linkbait and how does it link into a Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) technique?
Well Linkbait is classed as an essential piece of content that is placed on a webpage. This could be anything from a Blog, article, picture or any other sector, which is designed to gather links from as many different sources as possible. All it takes is for someone to take an interest to a page on a site or someone to notice the page for a few people to share the link, which will allow you to start accruing a large number of links across a wide range of sites.
So now I bet I have got you thinking is Linkbaiting a technique or just a side effect of a good written article?
In theory if you have a good piece of written content that has been submitted to the relevant sites and to the relevant audience, then with a bit of luck you may start to notice a larger amount of traffic visiting your website. However to get the most out of Linkbaiting if you have a good header/title, when customers are scanning the search engines for relevant results this will attract the customers curiosity and will also help you double the amount of traffic to your site.
Therefore content is still dramatically important, but one advantage of Linkbaiting is that you will decrease the amount of spam and unworthy content and will push them to the bottom of search engine results. So the clear message is that if you provide your customers with clear and relevant well written content then you may be rewarded with a large amount of traffic that you deserve.
