Why is Keyword Density Important?
Keyword density is just one factor considered when performing Search Engine Optimisation (SEO). Not only is keyword density very hard to achieve without sounding like you’re repeating yourself, but if you do not know what you’re doing things can go very wrong. You may get penalised or even worse; your website banned.
How important?
Keyword density is very important as all the major search engines e.g. Google, Yahoo! and MSN all consider keyword densities within their search algorithms. This means keyword density is on par with filling in Meta Tags correctly, making sure a site validates and other such SEO techniques. The term Content is King is banded about a lot, but it is very true. Content is one of the main forms of SEO techniques that can help your website. The idea is to write content, and then adjust as you go along. If writing a lot of content for a website, and its not been changed to a specific keyword density that includes the keywords then initially it is irrelevant. Content is King when keyword densities have been achieved.
Being Keyword Density Wise
Keyword density is a very hard thing to learn and take under your wing. Many people when first starting out in the SEO business have no idea how many keywords to put in their content. If you have too little, search engines will skip right past and not take it into their equation. Yet, if you have too many keywords then search engines can consider your website to be full of keyword spamming; which you could potentially be penalised for.
Summary
Keyword densities are an important SEO technique; as important as many other SEO techniques that you may put above it. SEO is all about making changes across the board; every change no matter how big or small counts towards the end goal of ranking higher than competitors.
